Statsvetenskap vid Södertörns högskola är en dynamisk miljö för statsvetenskaplig forskning och undervisning. Inom ämnet intresserar vi oss för frågor om demokrati, makt och mänskliga rättigheter utifrån ett svenskt, europeiskt och globalt perspektiv – frågor som har en direkt koppling till skolväsendets övergripande fokus på att skola framtidens demokratiska medborgare. I miljön ingår forskare och lärare specialiserade på bland annat demokratins teoretiska och praktiska utformning i tider av demokratisk tillbakagång, unga medborgares politiska socialisering, medborgarskapspolitik, välfärdsstatens utmaningar i ett mångkulturellt samhälle, fredsprocesser efter krig och konflikt samt framväxten av populistiska partier inom Norden.  Här bedrivs även samhällskunskapsdidaktisk forskning och forskning om elevers politiska socialisation. Forskare och doktorander i statsvetenskap är engagerade i nationella och internationella forskarnätverk samt deltar i mångvetenskapligt samarbete. Samarbetet med övriga ämnen inom forskarutbildningsområdet Utbildningsvetenskapliga studier öppnar perspektiv mot bredare mångvetenskapliga forskningsfält inom utbildningsvetenskap.

De centrala fenomen som studeras är uppfostran, undervisning och utbildning samt de pedagogiska grundfrågor som dessa fenomen aktualiserar. Du disputerar och gör dina doktorandstudier inom ämnet pedagogik vid institutionen för utbildningsvetenskap. Den mångvetenskapliga miljön kring UVS utgör också ett viktigt sammanhang för din forskning och dina studier.

Pedagogik är en del av forskarutbildningsområdet Utbildningsvetenskapliga studier. Området omfattar forskning om hur kultur, kunskaper och värden överförs och utvecklas mellan generationer inom ramen för formell utbildning. Mer specifikt finns en inriktning på didaktisk forskning, inbegripet allmän didaktik och ämnesdidaktik, liksom på hur forskningsproblem sprungna ur lärarprofessionen inom förskola, skola och fritidshem kan och bör förstås.

Behörighetskrav

Grundläggande behörighet till utbildning på forskarnivå har den som har:


• avlagt en examen på avancerad nivå,
• fullgjort kursfordringar om minst 240 högskolepoäng, varav minst 60 högskolepoäng på avancerad nivå, eller
• på något annat sätt inom eller utom landet förvärvat i huvudsak motsvarande kunskaper.

Fakultetsnämnden får för en enskild sökande medge undantag från kravet på grundläggande behörighet, om det finns särskilda skäl (SFS 2010:1064).

Särskild behörighet för utbildning på forskarnivå i pedagogik har den som med minst godkänt resultat författat ett individuellt självständigt vetenskapligt arbete i pedagogik med inriktning mot lärarprofessionen inom förskola, skola eller fritidshem, eller motsvarande, omfattande minst 15 hp på avancerad nivå, alternativt har förvärvat motsvarande kunskaper utomlands eller genom avlagd äldre examen. Om särskilda skäl föreligger kan Fakultetsnämnden för enskild sökande medge undantag från villkor för särskild behörighet.

Environmental Science at Södertörn University is a multidisciplinary field that integrates social and natural sciences for the study of environmental and sustainability topics, using varied perspectives. Research seeks to enhance the understanding of complex interactions between societies and environments within and across the global North and South (with a specific focus on the Baltic Sea Region and Eastern Europe), as well as to advance knowledge about sustainable practices and the mitigation of environmental problems. Research in Environmental Science at Södertörn University focuses on two integrated themes: (1) Sustainability Challenges and Pathways and (2) Environment. These themes, as well as research in Environmental Science at Södertörn University, are described in more detail here. 

DESCRIPTION

These doctoral studentships are within the Environment research theme, where research topics include climate and environmental change, ecosystem functioning, ecological processes, human impacts and environmental health. The overarching objective is to understand human-nature interactions in a changing environment. In this call, we are particularly interested in topics that builds on our ongoing research on: blue carbon; microbial ecology and diversity; palaeoecology; landscape and seascape analysis of environmental change; epidemiological approaches to environment–disease interactions. 

The positions are affiliated with the Baltic and Eastern European Graduate School (BEEGS) which is financed by the Foundation for Baltic and East European Studies, and is part of the Centre for Baltic and East European Studies (CBEES) at Södertörn University. The planned research must make a concrete contribution to knowledge about the Baltic Sea region or Eastern Europe (as specified here), as well as for ongoing research within the Environment research theme. It is important to note that research exclusively focusing on Swedish issues, study locations or cases will not meet BEEGS’ relevance criteria.

Vi söker en doktorand i svenska inom forskarutbildningssområdet utbildningsvetenskapliga studier (UVS)

Svenska vid Södertörns högskola är en livaktig forsknings- och undervisningsmiljö med fokus på språkets sociala betydelser och funktioner i ett föränderligt samhälle. Inom ämnet intresserar vi oss för hur språk används och formas i olika sociala kontexter – ett perspektiv som knyter an till frågor om språklig och social förändring och till språkets roll i utbildning och samhälle. Miljön rymmer forskare och lärare med specialiseringar inom tre överlappande inriktningar. Den första rör språk och globalisering, där vi studerar flerspråkighet i relation till migration, nyanländas etablering och arbetskraftens rörlighet, och hur dessa processer påverkar språkbruk i skola, arbetsliv och andra delar av samhället. Den andra inriktningen handlar om språk och utbildning, med fokus på språkbruk i olika utbildningsformer – från förskola till högre utbildning – liksom lärande i andra sociala sammanhang såsom medborgardialoger och språkcaféer. Den tredje inriktningen kretsar kring språk och makt, där vi studerar språkliga normer och språkideologier i relation till frågor om genus, segregation, socialt medborgarskap och institutionell kommunikation. Teoretisk och metodologisk bredd präglar forskningen, med ansatser som exempelvis lingvistisk etnografi, korpusstudier, samtalsanalys, New Literacy Studies, aktionsforskning samt olika former av multimodala och kritiska diskursanalyser. Den mångvetenskapliga miljön kring UVS utgör ett viktigt sammanhang för din forskning och dina studier. Området omfattar forskning om bevarandet och förändrandet av kultur, kunskaper och värden, i och genom språk, och inom och utanför formaliserade utbildningsinstitutioner. Med grund i forskarfrågor som inte sällan är sprungna ur lärarprofessionen tar sig forskarutbildningen an undervisningens förutsättningar och möjligheter. Vad innehåller den? Hur utformas undervisningen i olika kulturella och sociopolitiska kontexter? Södertörn University is a higher education institution in Stockholm that conducts education, research and collaboration with the surrounding community for sustainable societal development. Comparative Literature at Södertörn University conducts research on the history of literature from a variety of methodological starting points and with gender-theoretical, queer, postcolonial, posthumanist, didactic, artistic and ideological perspectives. The focus is on European literature from the Middle Ages onwards, with a particular emphasis on Northern European literature after 1880. Due to our association with the Baltic and East European Graduate School and the Foundation for Baltic and East European Studies, we also have a focus on the Baltic Sea region. Doctoral education at the Department of Comparative Literature is part of the research area of Critical and Cultural Theory, which is an interdisciplinary research environment with seven subjects in the humanities. The planned research for this studentship must be relevant to the Baltic Sea region or Eastern Europe, since the position is affiliated with the Baltic and East European Graduate School (BEEGS), www.sh.se/beegs, which is financed by the Foundation for Baltic and East European Studies and is part of the Centre for Baltic and East European Studies (CBEES) www.sh.se/cbees, at Södertörn University.

Entry requirements

NB. All credits are ECTS credits.

The general entry requirements are:
1. a second-cycle qualification, or
2. fulfilled requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits were awarded in the second-cycle, or
3. substantially equivalent knowledge acquired in some other way in Sweden or abroad.

The Faculty Board may permit an exemption from the general entry requirements for an individual applicant, if there are special grounds. (Ordinance 2010:1064)

Specific entry requirements
The specific entry requirements are met by someone who has knowledge equivalent to at least 90 credits in Comparative Literature or a closely related subject in the humanities, including an independent dissertation worth at least 15 credits at second-cycle level.

The ability to assimilate academic material in English and to command the language necessary for work on the thesis are prerequisites for admission to the degree programme.

Admission and employment

This position includes admission to third-cycle education, i.e. research level, and employment on a doctoral studentship at the School of Culture and Education at Södertörn University. The intended outcome for admitted students is a PhD. The programme covers 240 credits, which is the equivalent of four years of full-time study. The position may be extended by a maximum of one year due to the inclusion of departmental duties, i.e. education, research and/or administration (equivalent to no more than 20% of full-time). Other grounds for extension could be leave of absence because of illness or for service in the defence forces, an elected position in a trade union/student organisation, or parental leave.  Provisions relating to employment on a doctoral studentship are in the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5, Sections 1-7.

Projektets potentiella bidrag är att tillsammans med ö-samhällenas olika intressenter utveckla och sprida kunskap om modeller, arbetssätt och verktyg samt policys som är kontextuellt anpassade för att främja hållbara och levande ö- och skärgårdssamhälle. Inom denna övergripande ram har doktoranden inom sitt avhandlingsarbete möjlighet att självständigt specificera och välja sina forskningsfrågor, metod och forskningsdesign.

Södertörn University welcomes doctoral proposals in Political Science that specialise in public policy and administration or comparative politics. Work will be conducted within the EU-funded research project: “Sustaining Public Administration in Modern Democracies (SUPA)”, which includes research institutions across Europe and beyond. The SUPA Consortium’s analytical starting point is the observation that democratic governments often produce more policies than can be effectively implemented. Its key aims are (1) to identify strategies that make policy growth more sustainable and (2) to develop approaches that make public administrations more resilient to the threat of becoming overburdened. SUPA combines qualitative and quantitative methods to examine patterns of rule growth and the resulting administrative changes and challenges in six European States (Denmark, France, Germany, Norway, Spain, and the Netherlands) and the European Union. Within this broader consortium, the Södertörn team is specifically tasked with evaluating the effectiveness of “rule-offsetting” schemes. 

The project is located in the Department of Political Science. Political Science research at Södertörn University covers a wide range of topics, including institutions, political parties, parliaments, governments, governance, democracy, citizenship, justice, security, migration and community-building. Many of our projects focus on Eastern and Central Europe, Russia, the Nordic countries and the European Union. Political Science staff and doctoral students are greatly involved in national and international research networks, as well as engaging in multidisciplinary cooperation through the Centre for the Study of Political Organisation.

Ämnet pedagogik

Forskning inom ämnet pedagogik vid Södertörns högskola har sin grund i en humanistisk tradition och har ett samhällsvetenskapligt kunskapsintresse. De centrala fenomen som studeras är uppfostran, undervisning och utbildning samt de pedagogiska grundfrågor som dessa fenomen aktualiserar. För den aktuella tjänsten kan sådana grundfrågor exempelvis handla om etik och värdegrund, migration och mångkulturalitet, demokrati och delaktighet samt pedagogisk kvalitet och pedagogiskt ledarskap inom ramen för utbildningsvetenskapliga studier. Utbildningsvetenskapliga studier

Pedagogik är en del av forskarutbildningsområdet Utbildningsvetenskapliga studier. Området omfattar forskning om hur kultur, kunskaper och värden överförs och utvecklas mellan generationer inom ramen för formell utbildning. Mer specifikt finns en inriktning på didaktisk forskning, inbegripet allmän didaktik och ämnesdidaktik, liksom på hur forskningsproblem sprungna ur förskolärar- och lärarprofessionen kan och bör förstås. Behörighetskrav

Grundläggande behörighet till utbildning på forskarnivå har den som har:


• avlagt en examen på avancerad nivå,
• fullgjort kursfordringar om minst 240 högskolepoäng, varav minst 60 högskolepoäng på avancerad nivå, eller
• på något annat sätt inom eller utom landet förvärvat i huvudsak motsvarande kunskaper.

Fakultetsnämnden får för en enskild sökande medge undantag från kravet på grundläggande behörighet, om det finns särskilda skäl. (SFS 2010:1064).

Särskild behörighet för utbildning på forskarnivå i pedagogik har den som med minst godkänt resultat författat ett individuellt självständigt vetenskapligt arbete i pedagogik med inriktning mot förskolärar- och lärarprofessionen, eller motsvarande, omfattande minst 15 hp på avancerad nivå, alternativt har förvärvat motsvarande kunskaper utomlands eller genom avlagd äldre examen. Om särskilda skäl föreligger kan Fakultetsnämnden för enskild sökande medge undantag från villkor för särskild behörighet.

Antagning och anställning

Utlysningen innebär dels antagning till utbildning på forskarnivå, dels anställning som doktorand vid Lärarutbildningen under motsvarande fyra år på heltid. Forskarutbildningen motsvarar 240 högskolepoäng och avser att leda till doktorsexamen. Anställningen kan förlängas med högst ett år vid institutionstjänstgöring inom till exempel undervisning och administration (motsvarande högst 20 % av heltid). Andra skäl till förlängd anställning är ledighet på grund av sjukdom, tjänstgöring inom totalförsvaret, förtroendeuppdrag inom fackliga organisationer/ studentorganisationer eller föräldraledighet. Bestämmelser om doktorandanställningar finns i Högskoleförordningen 5 kap, 1-7 §§.

Our research focus is on developing feminist theory and methods, as well as on critical perspectives of power in relation to contemporary and historical formations of gender. Gender Studies offers interdisciplinary perspectives on the formation and transformation of gender and its intersections with other power structures, such as race, sexuality, class, and nationality, as well as science, technology, and nature. The area is characterised by an empirical and theoretical focus on social and cultural change and long time perspectives. • The suitability and feasibility of the research project as a doctoral project
• Whether issues of research ethics have been considered

Doctoral education at the Department of Historical and Contemporary Studies is part of the research area of Historical Studies. This is an interdisciplinary research environment in the humanities, in which aspects of society, culture and heritage are studied from different perspectives. The area is characterised by an empirical and theoretical focus on social and cultural change and long time perspectives. Historical Studies includes five subject areas for doctoral studies: Archaeology, Ethnology, History, History of Ideas, and the Study of Religions. Comparative Literature has been a subject at Södertörn University since 1999 and has two specialisations: “drama, text, theatre” and “general comparative literature studies”. Both specialisations include elements of creative writing. The subject offers courses at first and second-cycle levels (Bachelor’s and Master’s), as well as third-cycle studies (doctoral level). Studies in comparative literature investigate research issues and themes associated with the history of literature and drama as well as with theoretical and thematic studies. Nu söker vi en doktorand i medie- och kommunikationsvetenskap, inom forskningsprojektet Den digitala välfärdsstaten. Med utgångspunkt i den pågående utvecklingen och den alltmer omfattande implementeringen av automatiserat beslutsfattande undersöker det forskningsprojektet implikationerna av automatisering för demokratin inom välfärden. Utgångspunkten är tre delvis överlappande processer: För det första har forskningen inom kritiska datastudier uppmärksammat att våra liv ”datafieras” i allt större utsträckning. Det vill säga att allt fler aspekter av våra liv omvandlas till data som i sig har fått en stor betydelse som ekonomisk resurs och som har beskrivits som den nya oljan. För det andra har välfärdsstaten och dess organisation förändrats de senaste decennierna. New public management har lagt fokus på mätande och samtidigt lett till en fokus på individen. För det tredje beskrivs det ofta som att västvärldens demokratier befinner sig i kris. Tillit till demokratiska institutioner och medborgerligt deltagande i traditionella politiska institutioner har systematiskt minskat sedan 2000-talet. Projektet undersöker hur dessa tre processer hänger ihop och påverkas av algoritmisk och data-baserad automatisering. Projektet närmar sig dessa komplexa frågeställningar genom en interdisciplinär forskningsdesign som baseras på metodologisk mångfald och med medborgaren i fokus.

Medie- och kommunikationsvetenskap vid Södertörns högskola är en av landets ledande forskningsmiljöer inom medie- och kommunikationsvetenskap (MKV). Forskning och utbildning är inriktade på det samtida digitaliserade medielandskapet och bygger på en historiskt informerad förståelse av hur ny kommunikationsteknik och dess sammanhang förhåller sig till sina föregångare. Forskningsmiljön består för närvarande av cirka 20 forskare/lärare, varav 6 professorer, 6 docenter och 9 doktorander. Alla doktorander har en internationell profil, och arbetsspråket i forskarutbildningen är engelska. 

Medie- och kommunikationsvetenskap ingår i forskarutbildningsområdet Kritisk Kulturteori som består av en mångvetenskaplig forskningsmiljö som består av sju ämnen inom humaniora och samhällsvetenskap. Beskrivning av doktorandplatsen
Doktorandprojektet knyter an till kritisk forskning kring digitalisering av välfärden i dess breda bemärkelse. Detta kan innefatta studier av hur medborgare upplever automatisering inom välfärdssektorn men även dess materiella och kulturella förutsättningar, t.ex. i form av teknologisk infrastruktur och sociala praktiker som utgör en bakgrund för datafierings- och automatiseringsprocessen. Projektet bör anknyta till kritiska datastudier samt kritiska studier av digitaliseringen och närliggande fält. Doktoranden ingår i en internationell och interdisciplinär forskargrupp.

Behörighetskrav
Grundläggande behörighet till utbildning på forskarnivå har den som:


• avlagt en examen på avancerad nivå,
• fullgjort kursfordringar om minst 240 högskolepoäng, varav minst 60 högskolepoäng på avancerad nivå, eller

Avlärande av det förgivettagna genom konstnärliga praktiker

En central utmaning för att generera transformativ kapacitet i planeringspraktiker är att facilitera bättre samverkan, nya sorters interaktioner och nya kommunikationskanaler mellan myndigheter och civilsamhälle. 

Projektet bör utveckla experimentella metoder för att situera praktiker i ovana sociala och materiella kontexter, vilket etablerar en destabilisering av förgivettagna handlingsramar. Experimenten kan fungera som ett sätt att belysa existerande praktiker och ge tillgång till praktisk kunskap, men också som en väg för att generera alternativa förhållningssätt som kan användas i konkreta planeringsprocesser. I detta projekt bör därför praktikbaserade, konstnärliga och aktionsbaserade forskningsmetoder användas. Projektet genomförs i samarbete med relevanta samhällsaktörer.

Admission and employment
This position includes admission to third-cycle education, i.e. research level, and employment on a doctoral studentship at the School of Social Sciences at Södertörn University. The intended outcome for admitted students is a PhD. The programme covers 240 credits, which is the equivalent of four years of full-time study. Within our research group you will find a unique opportunity to work closely together with clinicians in hepatology and researchers in immunology and genetics.

Your mission
Annika Bergquist’s research group has a focus on clinical and translational studies in the field of liver diseases related to primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). We are expanding toward analysis of bigger datasets to study various aspects of the disease ranging from diagnostic, prognostic and more basic biology that require both good statistical and graphical skills. Proximity and interactions with basic researchers studying various aspects of PSC is also part of the translational aspect of the position. Your main role will be to perform analyses of registry, clinical and biological data.

Your profile
You have a PhD with experience in a broad range of exploratory, explanatory multidimensional analyses as well as related graphical representations. You also have previous experience in analysis and visualization of one or more of these data types: miRNA, methylation, proteomic and metabolomic data. The use of R and experience in interactive data display would be a strong advantage. Experience in computational methods including clustering and networks is also highly preferable. You also have experience in teaching and taking part in mentoring programs for bioinformaticians.

The candidate should be self-motivated and curious to solve clinical and fundamental biological questions to increase knowledge on PSC and patient’s benefit. Previous experience and knowledge about liver disease is not required but is an advantage. The candidate should be structured and organized, independent, good team player, open-minded and willing to explore new ways of analysis. We value personal suitability highly.

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Presentation av ämnet

Ämnets forskningsprofil har ett fokus på samspelet mellan olika sociala kontexter och språkliga uttrycksformer, ofta sådana som berör språksocial förändring. Detta sker utifrån tre överlappande forskningsinriktningar. Den första inriktningen rör språk och globalisering. Här finns ett intresse för flerspråkighet relaterad till t.ex. migration, nyanlända och arbetskraftens rörlighet. Detta har språksociala konsekvenser på många områden, t.ex. för svenska som andraspråk i utbildningssituationer och för många yrken. Den andra forskningsinriktningen är direkt inriktad på lärande och språkutvecklande arbete i olika skolformer, från förskola till gymnasium och högskola. Den tredje inriktningen rör språk och makt. Det tar ofta sikte på språknormerande sammanhang, som språknormering i genusfrågor. Även det (multimodala) språk som används för styrning, t.ex. för resultat- och kvalitetsmätningar i skolan, beforskas. Utbildningsvetenskapliga och didaktiska frågor kan, som framgår, tematiseras i alla tre forskningsinriktningarna, vilket vi tycker är viktigt.

Vad gäller undervisning är svenska en del av två stora utbildningsprogram vid Södertörns högskola, dels högskolans olika lärarprogram (från förskola till ämneslärare på gymnasiet), dels kommunikatörsprogrammet.

Job description

These doctoral positions in Business Studies include admission to third-cycle education, i.e. doctoral studies, and employment on a doctoral studentship. The intended outcome is a doctoral thesis. Metoder består av kliniska studier, registerstudier, genetiska studier, studier av benmetabolism och bendensitet. Handledarna är kliniker med lång forskningserfarenhet.

Doktorandprojektet och doktorandens uppgifter

Projektet innefattar registerstudier av kotpelarskador och en randomiserad studie av torakolumbala burstfrakturer. Målet med studierna är att förbättra behandlingen för personer med kotpelarskador.

Doktorandens uppgift är att tillsammans med handledare genomföra studierna. Då projektet är ett nationellt samarbetsprojekt innebär detta kontakter med patienter, kliniker, och forskare över hela landet. Utöver detta krävs kontakter med de myndigheter som har hand om olika hälsodataregister då viktiga utfallsmått i studierna utgörs av data som samlas inom ramen för befintliga svenska register.

A) Grundläggande behörighetskrav

Du uppfyller det grundläggande behörighetskravet för utbildning på forskarnivå om du:

- har avlagt en examen på avancerad nivå (magister- eller masterexamen), eller
- har fullgjort kursfordringar om minst 240 högskolepoäng, varav minst 60 högskolepoäng på avancerad nivå, eller
- har på annat sätt förvärvat i huvudsak motsvarande kunskaper.*

B) Särskilt behörighetskrav

Färdigheter och personliga egenskaper

Vi ser att du har:

- läkarexamen
- utmärkta kunskaper i svenska språket.
- goda kunskaper i engelska språket i tal och skrift.

Meriterande är tidigare tjänstgöring på ortopedisk och/eller neurokirurgisk enhet och klinisk erfarenhet av patienter med kotpelarskador. Erfarenhet av arbete med stora databaser samt livskvalitetsinstrument är meriterande. Även god förmåga att kunna sammanfatta och skriva vetenskapliga texter på engelska är meriterande. Särskild vikt sätts vid samarbetsförmåga, då frekventa kontakter med patienter, kliniker, och andra forskare krävs.

Villkor

Doktorandplatsen innebär en anställning som doktorand under maximalt 4 år på heltid.

Media and Communication Studies is one of Sweden’s leading environments for media research and education. It engages with the contemporary media landscape and is founded on a historically informed understanding in which digital communication technologies and their contexts are related to their predecessors. Forskningen inom ämnet svenska handlar allmänt om vad vi gör med språket och det med oss, alltså hur vi genom språk kan tänka och handla. Detta innefattar villkor för lärande i olika språksociala kontexter, som idag präglas av globalisering, mångspråkighet och segregation. Inom ämnet ryms också användningen av svenska som andraspråk i skola och arbete, och ämnet välkomnar avhandlingsprojekt med andraspråksinriktning, men även andra projekt. Vad gäller undervisning är svenska en del av två stora utbildningar vid Södertörns högskola, dels högskolans olika lärarprogram (från förskola till ämneslärare på gymnasiet), dels kommunikatörsprogrammet.

Presentation av Utbildningsvetenskapliga studier

Svenska är en del av forskarutbildningsområdet Utbildningsvetenskapliga studier. Området omfattar forskning om bevarandet och förändrandet av kultur, kunskaper och värden, i och utanför formaliserade utbildningsinstitutioner. Mer specifikt finns en inriktning på didaktisk forskning, inbegripet allmän- och ämnesdidaktik, alltså sådana forskningsproblem som vuxit fram sprungna ur professionen, dvs. hur undervisning, utbildning, fostran och lärande knutna till lärarprofessionen kan och bör förstås.

Research environment at Södertörn University
As a doctoral student in Economics, you will join a research environment that offers multidisciplinary perspectives and an advanced curriculum. Doctoral students are affiliated with a Social Science research area called Politics, Economy and the Organisation of Society (PESO), encompassing the disciplines of Business Studies, Economics, Political Science, Social Work, and Sociology. In addition, they are affiliated with the Baltic and East European Graduate School (BEEGS), which is part of the Centre for Baltic and East European Studies (CBEES) at Södertörn University.

The Economics Department has a lively research and teaching environment. Its research is mainly empirical, with applications in environmental economics and sustainability, development and globalisation, industrial organisation and competition, international economics and trade, finance and growth. Teaching ranges from introductory to advanced-level economics. Graduate courses in economics are given as part of the Swedish Graduate Programme in Economics (SWEGPEC) in cooperation with several other Swedish universities.

Your doctoral research must in some way be geographically concerned with the Baltic Sea region and/or the post-communist part of Europe and Central Asia. Theses with a comparative approach must include at least one country in the above-mentioned regions but may also include other countries. A thesis cannot only concern Sweden and Swedish society.

Job description
This doctoral position in Economics includes both admission to third-cycle education, i.e. doctoral studies, and employment on a doctoral studentship. The intended outcome is a doctoral thesis.

Antagning och anställning

Utlysningen innebär dels antagning till utbildning på forskarnivå, dels anställning som doktorand vid Institutionen för kultur och lärande under motsvarande fyra år på heltid. Forskarutbildningen motsvarar 240 högskolepoäng och avser att leda till doktorsexamen. Anställningen kan förlängas med högst ett år vid institutionstjänstgöring inom t ex undervisning, forskning och administration (motsvarande högst 20 % av heltid). Inom denna tjänst förväntas institutionstjänstgöringen främst göras inom Lärarutbildningen. Bestämmelser om doktorandanställningar finns i Högskoleförordningen 5 kap, 1-7 §§.
