SPRINT BIOSCIENCE IN SHORT

ABOUT THE POSITION 
You will be part of the Tumor Biology and Therapeutics team, consisting of 8 dedicated scientists working closely together in project-specific teams. Project teams are dynamic and can change depending on project priorities. You will have the opportunity to work on multiple projects in parallel, in constant interaction with members of the other scientific teams (Protein Science, Medicinal Chemistry, Structure-based Drug Design). We offer you an opportunity to develop both within and outside of your discipline.  
 
The position is a full-time permanent position with an initial 6 months probation period.
  
Your specific contributions and responsibilities will be to: 

Independently design, execute and analyze experiments to test compound activities with the aim of producing robust and high-quality data. 


Document and report experimental data and assessments to support project decisions and milestones. 


Develop cell-based assays for screening and profiling of compounds and help understanding their mechanism of action.  


Contribute to scientific and technical development within the team. 


Organize, plan, and coordinate your work within the team and across multidisciplinary project teams. 



WHO YOU ARE 
You thrive in the lab, where you will spend most of your workday. Collaborative skills and the ability to communicate are essential and work experience from the industry is meritorious. 
 
To be successful for this position you need: 

PhD or MSc/BSc degree in cell biology-related disciplines.  


Extensive laboratory experience in performing and analyzing cell-based and molecular biology assays.  


Passion for hands-on laboratory work. 


To be accurate, structured, and work safely in the lab. 


A collaborative mindset to work with cross-functional teams. 


Excellent communications skills in written and spoken English.?

Circio is currently seeking a research assistant to join the expanding R&D Department of Circio in Huddinge, Stockholm; to manage, spearhead and conduct experimental work towards the optimization and characterization of Circio’s proprietary gene therapy vector platform. Writing scientific reports and summarizing data in powerpoint presentations

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our cutting-edge Flow Cytometry Core Facility at the Department of Medicine Huddinge (MedH), Karolinska Institutet as a Flow Cytometry Research Technician.

The Flow Cytometry Core Facility offers high quality service and state-of-the-art instrumentation to users at Karolinska Institutet, as well as external academic or commercial investigators. Applicants are invited to submit applications for a full-time position with an initial fixed term of 6 months and possibility for further extension.
 
The Department of Medicine, Huddinge (MedH) Flow Cytometry Core Facility is located in the NEO research building on the Flemingsberg Campus, integrated into the Center for Hematology and Regenerative Medicine (https://ki.se/en/medh/center-for-hematology-and-regenerative-medicine). The Flow Cytometry Core Facility is equipped with state-of-the-art analysers and cells sorters for multi-parameter flow cytometry (up to 30) parameters) including one BD FACSymphony A5, one BD LSRFortessa X20, one Beckman Coulter Cytoflex S and two BD FACS ARIA Fusions. Both cell sorters are used for cell sorting up to enhanced BSL 2. In addition to ensuring that the instruments are operating optimally, the facility offers assisted cell sorting, interaction with investigators at a weekly FACS Forum and training sessions for analysis and trouble-shooting. The Flow Cytometry Facility is under the line management of Assistant Professor Petter S. Woll, the Scientific Director who oversees the operation of the facility. The Flow Cytometry Facility also has an excellent Facility Manager with a long-standing experience in advanced flow cytometry.

Your mission
The post holder will support the Flow Cytometry Facility in providing assisted flow cytometery analysis and cell sorting, perform day-to-day general laboratory routines, assist users with acute questions/issues and provide administrative lab support such as consumables and reagents restocking and ordering. Interaction with users with a service-minded and friendly manner is required daily. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an individual to work within a dynamic team involving other staff in the Flow Cytometry Facility and all its users, and to develop a career in cytometry.

Your profile
Required skills

- M.S. degree or higher.
- Established experience in multi-color advanced flow cytometry and in particular independent cell sorting on advanced instruments such as the BD FACS ARIA Fusion. 
- Very good knowledge of spoken and written English.
- Previous experience in biosafety is preferred.

Personal qualities

- The ideal candidate must be service-minded, able to interact multiple users at the same. time, and deal with frequent user requests, always with a positive and friendly attitude.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrate ability to organize, plan and document work in the facility.

Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Research group
This position is available in the group lead by Professor Mats Trulsson at the Department of Dental Medicine.

Our research group focuses on sensorimotor mechanisms regulating orofacial behaviors. Both sensory and motor functions are studied on e.g. healthy subjects and on prosthetic patient groups.

Duties
We are looking for a highly motivated lab manager with a background in orofacial sensorimotor research to run the lab besides conducting research with focus in somatosensory and motor mechanisms of the masticatory system by measuring variables related to bite forces, movements and muscle activity. The knowledge acquired will be implemented in the clinic to individuals in need of oral rehabilitation with prosthetic therapy. Special interest is focused on how loss of tactile sensibility due to e.g. t ooth loss and oral implant therapy, or pain influence on the individual’s biting and chewing capacity.

Entry requirements
The successful applicant will have a PhD degree in orofacial sensorimotor research (human experimental, clinical and laboratory work) or a closely related subject, as well as minimum 4 years of previous post doc experience from similar work. Furthermore, the applicant should have high level of competence in experimental motor studies with a strong publication record. Highly valuably is experience from experimental work with fine motor control of the masticatory system.

We expect the applicant to be a positive, flexible and highly motivated person with superior communication skills and ability to integrate efficiently in a research team. In addition, the applicant will be involved in supervising (postdocs, PhD students and Master’s students), publication processes, compiling grant applications, and organizing laboratory routines. Candidate is also expected to be familiar with TMS experiments. Emphasis will be put on personal skills in the evaluation process. Very good ability to speak and write English is a requirement.
